Valentine Day - GODIVA

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Many people need to buy some presents to prepare the Valentine Day in this week. They may buy Rose, Dolls and candle night set dinner. In general, I believe that most people must buy the chocolate gifts to people.

Therefore, I would like to use the OL Theory to apply in the GODIVA CHOCOLATIER.

Nowadays, GODIVA is one of the successful chocolate company in the Financial Tsunami.

Ming Pao News from 13th Feb, 2009

According to Ming Pao, GODIVA had increased the product price. It also still get the expected result.

I would like to use the Cycles of Actions to apply in the GODIVA in Valentine Day.

Cycles of Actions

1. Personal Cognitions: People know that they need to buy the gifts such as flower, jewelry and chocolate to give to their lover.

2. Individual Behavior: They need to choose the shop to buy the gifts. They are also choosing the special or meaningful gift such as heart shape chocolate.

3. Organizational Actions: GODIVA promote different shape, taste and package chocolate for the different type buyer. For the Valentine Day, they promote the two different heart size in the one chocolate.(see picture)

4. Environmental acts: GODIVA have a higher reputation of making chocolate, including to

a) package,

b)taste,

c)design and

d)the level of the favorable for people.

It can advance to the people which are likely to buy GODIVA gifts. Therefore, It can affect that the people must believe the chocolate is necessary in the Valentine Day.

For the cycles of actions, it is the loop. Godiva had generated more idea through the cycles of action. The following is the examples of the Godiva applying to the cycles of actions.

1. At the beginning, Godiva had produced the chocolate in order to attract people.

2.Then, in order to enhance the profit and reputation, Godive promote the exclusive chocolate through diffenet festival such as christmax and Chinese New Year.

3. Through the cycles, they were created different service for another type customer. For examples: Corporating gifts for the company to show their company good image.

4. Through the cycles of action, it is repeating for the Godiva. It can generate more new ideas, strategies such as design package from company change to customer. The cycles is likely to expand from the local business to global business (It likes Paradigm Shifts).

5. In the cycles, they can capture more knowledge and new idea through the environment changed and the people interest.

Application to daily life

After the lesson, I would like to apply week 2 theory in the news.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2009(http://www.hkmarathon.com/marathon/chi/home/default.jsp)

In daily life, running is one of the skills which are learned by their childhood. It is because when they were childhood, they need to learn how to walk. In this progress, they must try to walk faster, and then they can acquire the walking knowledge and running knowledge from childhood.

Marathon is a good exercise for the people. It can help people to build up the team spirit, good body, perseverance. It is worth with the people to learn and do. As the results, it has many people to join this activity which increase the number of runner every years.(reference 3)
The following is the operational and conceptual for learning at individual level about the Marathon.

Learning at individual level

1. Operational: People need to follow the tutor instructions or book guidelines to learn what the good running position is and train their running rhythm. It is the step for the beginner to get the basic knowledge and skill for running.

2. Conceptual: People know how to avoid the accident on their training such as leg spasm. Moreover, they know that which type warning up motion can protect their body spasm and run more efficiency for the training or competition.

It is about the race backgroud, the expert tips for runner.

Applying the Bloom's Taxonomy in the Marathon example.

Knowledge: They know some specific terms about marathon, and know some equipments how to use and it function. For example:

Champion Chip

Comprehension: Explain how to run efficiency, which gesture suitable for different runner.

Application: Runners go to playground or sport places to count their results. In this process, they can try to use their skill when they learned.

Analysis: Through their results, they can compare with different running method. They can find the most suitable running method and breathe rhythm.

Synthesis: According to personal results and target time, they can plan the training time and build up the team. It is because it can improve their running speeds, gesture and breathe rhythm through peer motivation.

Evaluation: In order to make the best result in the marathon competition, they need to plan different plans in short run or long run. Through the discussion with groupmates or their coach, they can find the best plan to prepare the match.

Revised Bloom's Taxonomy
I agree exchange postion between Evaluation and Synthesis.

In my opinion, when I design the planing for something, I need to know what problem I need to know and solving. In progress, I need to create something or make the best judgment. It is including to the Evaluation state. Therefore, I think that people may accept and use the new terms of Bloom's Taxonomy in today society.

The first image of Organizational Learning(OL)

I think that OL is more complex than Knowledge Management (KM). It is because KM is one part of OL such as the one parts of paradigm shift in today's world. Although OL is difficult subject, OL is easy to apply in nowadays society. For example: many organizations will learn other firms administration method, one ways of this situation is employed other firms outstanding employee to capture their knowledge to make the organization efficiency and effective.

For the example of the Hitoshi Yamada, I appreciate Hitoshi Yamada talent. His management philosophy can save many organizations which near to die. Moreover, he can find some specific perspective that many senior manager or administrator can not do it. Nowadays, the education level of people is plenty of increasing comparing the past. Some students can concentrate some professional subject to study such as marketing, human resources. These subjects can help the organizations to solve the official problem such as waste the resources, enhance their employee motivation. It seems that the organization trains own corporate doctor in the firm.

After the lesson, I think that "Learning" is the chemical reaction. One element can find other elements to be a compound, so that the reaction exists. This analogy is said that peoples gains the new way to solve the problems or recognize to the new objects from the daily life. We can select the suitable and efficiency method to know and solve the event. Then, we must remember the method and save our brain forever. Therefore, this is learning.
